Roasted chicken, homemade hot sauce, plantains and more in a super casual Peruvian cafe.
It's delicious and affordable. Service is warm and kid friendly.
Did I mention delicious? Seriously the best chicken in all the Seattle area. That includes all the frou frou spots that charge 3 times as much for hip ambience. The chicken is outstanding. Take out, dine-in, it's a favorite. -

Dinner here with friends and we've been back twice. On our first visit, there was four of us. We opted to split the whole roasted chicken which came with French fries and a shredded lettuce salad with tomato slices and cucumber. For us, $25 was very affordable (split four ways) and we added several extras. We chose the papa rellena (deep-fried potatoes stuffed with seasoned ground beef and onions, platano frito (fried plantains) and an order of yuca fritas (fried cassava wedges)!
One of our friends chose a can of Inca Cola and two others went with the delicious chicha morada. If you're not keen to try an unnaturally yellow soda or the purple corn punch, they also have bottled water, western sodas, juices, and beer!
If you go with their chicken, it is accompanied by ketchup, mustard, mayonnaise, and a pair of spicy sauces. The green is addictive and the red is spicy so if you don't like heat, use it sparingly.
The chicken was juicy and the skin was excellent. Parking is scant and a little odd but they do have several spaces. Our service was quick even though the restaurant was bustling. The restaurant isn't fancy, in fact I'd say it's fairly no frills.
Don't let its exterior fool you, this is definitely a gem! -

I thought the food tasted very home-y if that makes sense. Something a friend's parent would cook. The food is no frills, very simple, tasty, and authentic (I assume). We ordered the poor man's steaks and a chicken dish that had onions and potatoes. Both were good and I really liked the green sauce that was provided.
The location was a bit odd in that there was a large stage looking area in the back. There were lots of children running around which made is very noisy and distracting. I noticed lots of people ordering for take out.
Overall, it a good shake up from the usual dining options. I'm glad I tried it! -

I had their ají de gallina, it was good but I prefer mine with parmesan. My friend ordered arroz con pollo, which he enjoyed. We also ordered yuca fries, which were perfect.
It was really conveniently located right next to a rock climbing gym I like and was open late.
Next time I go I'm looking forward to getting seco de carne. -

Yay! finally made it here. Came for lunch with a friend on a Saturday around 1 ish after checking out a plant sale at The Works Seattle. Before this the only Peruvian chicken I had was from another place farther south on Rainier. It's not a fancy place if you dine in you order with the server from your table but when your leaving you pay at the counter. II like the casualness cause I'n the kind of person that will pick up my bone after awhile to gnaw on.
I had to go with what they're known for the Pollos a la Brasa I went with the half so I could bring some home to dad also if I ordered a quarter I wasn't sure which quarter I would get. The chicken was so moist and full of flavor, seasoned well and nicely roasted beautiful color. way better than the other place. It comes with fries and a salad everyone says to switch out the regular fries with the yuca fries I listened. So worth it! There are two hot sauce green and red both have a great kick and flavor the red has a little more citrus to it. The salad isn't much to write home about just shredded lettuce with a few tomato slices and ranch. Next time I'd probably see if I could just get the pickled onions that came with the tamale.
My friend started with a pork tamale he didn't touch the pickled red onion till he had finished and I asked if they were pickled. We both tried it and loved the flavor and freshness full of like flavor you can see the lime zest. I think they let the red onions set in boiling water a few minutes to take the bite out of it I use that process when I make ceviche. The tamale is considered an appetizer and is very generous in size. You would guess that the pork would be shredded but its actually a slice of pork and part of a boiled egg. The masa is very moist and appears to be cooked in chili water by the color and flavor it picked up sone of the juice from the onions the acidity was perfect pairing with the richness of the pork.
Can't remember the name of my friend's entree he got a marinated beef dish looked like flank steak that came with rice, couple slices of potato and hominy along with sautéed red pepper and onions. Seemed like a lot of starch for one dish. Beef was nice and tender lots of flavor well seasoned he ate all the meat up.
Picked up a container of their cookies behind the counter the shortbread was a little too soft for me sandwiched between is a nutty caramel spread.
Can't wait to come back for the chicken and introduce more people. Always kept hearing about this place glad I finally checked it out and it's not to far from work.
